All Saints // Concepts

We'll start things off with some concept art I did for All Saints, starting back in the summer of 2007. Unlike the comic itself, which is done in greyscale, many of these concepts are done in color. Enjoy!

Welcome to My Portfolio

Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I hope that you will enjoy it as much as I will enjoy putting my work up here.

For those just joining in, my name is J. S. Cervini. I am an artist trained in both traditional and digital media, specializing in two-dimensional artwork. My focus is on people, specifically characters with a story to tell. With this in mind, it is hardly any surprise that I have been fascinated with sequential art, comic books, graphic novels, and character design for just about as long as I can remember.

These interests came to fruition in recent years with my work on a web comic: All Saints. In the duration of the comic thus far, I will admit that a lot of my work has a rough aesthetic to it, but it's slowly being reined in the longer I work on it. More or less, I see the comic in terms of an evolution of my style and my technique using digital media. Odds are that this progression will continue with the chapters to come.

In my education and beyond, I have also picked up an interest in two other areas: game design and branding. The former is most likely a product of my childhood love for games, be they on a board or on a screen. This love has led me to work on a few projects for local friends, but is now branching off into a more public arena with my blog dedicated to my adventures in game design, ThatNewGame.

The latter is a more recent interest of mine that spawned forth from earlier works as well as the launch of ThatNewGame. Logos and other identifying marks can be powerful tools that can either push the presence of an entity into the forefront, or pull it back into obscurity. I have recently put forth entries for a couple logo contests over at Genius Rocket, if you wish to follow my work there.

I think that is all for now. Look forward to more material as I make it!
