All Saints // Concepts

We'll start things off with some concept art I did for All Saints, starting back in the summer of 2007. Unlike the comic itself, which is done in greyscale, many of these concepts are done in color. Enjoy!

Deimos Concept - 2007
When writer Dave Guidry approached me with his idea for the web comic, I was daunted at first since he has a strong horror influence in his work, specifically that of H. P. Lovecraft. While not on a Lovecraftian scale, I think I got the idea of a man mutated by both genetics and himself down pat.
Shelob Concept - 2007
This is one of the otherworldly creatures that appear early on in the comic. Dave described it to me as a subterranean arachnid with no eyes, a fearsome maw, blade-like chitin legs, and an insatiable hunger for... just about anything.
Spindley Concept - 2007
This creature enters the comic in the second chapter. Approximately two or three stories in height, this hulking brute also exhibits a surprising degree of agility and intellect, making it a dangerous foe.
Tox Concept - 2007
This creature is only alluded to so far in the comic. They seem to be shock troops of some sort, using the combined features of its feline body and legs for speed and agility, its humanoid hands for restraining its enemies, and its insectoid scythe arms for killing.
Character Concepts - 2008
These are renditions of characters already introduced in the first chapter of the comic as Dave and I were planning the second. I had changed the proportions to both better identify the characters as well as to emphasize gestures and action as the chapter continued. While they were nixed by Dave, I still like them good enough to put here.
Deimos versus the Cloverfield Monster - 2008
Being the consummate demon and monster hunter that Deimos is, Dave thought it appropriate for me to make a piece with  him during a fight with the Cloverfield Monster. Since I was stoked about the movie at the time, how could I refuse?
